Dr Kisang

Dr. Kisang, MD

Family Medicine

Biography:

Dr. Kisang who has always been one to make people laugh with her boundless energy and extremely extroverted personality was born and raised in Cameroon, West Africa and moved to Colorado with her siblings (4 brothers) in 2006. While in Cameroon, she was a sick child herself and had watched multiple loved ones deal with life changing illnesses and she always hoped to make a difference. When she found herself in America, the land of dreamers and endless opportunities, she decided to follow a path of helping people smile through medicine. She loved her childhood experience in her small close knit community and discovered that the best way to have similar experiences was housed in rural communities leading to her decision to focus on rural training while in medical school and committing to practice in rural Colorado after training. She completed her family medicine residency training here in Pueblo at Southern Colorado Family Medicine Clinic (SCFM) and worked for a short time in La Junta after training but missed the community and her patients in Pueblo so she decided to come back.

If she is not making her patients and coworkers laugh in the clinic, you can find her in her arts and craft room at home doing DIY projects involving crochets, plastic canvas, sewing, customizing candles, or in the living room singing loudly off tune and dancing with her family.

Philosophy of care:

She believes in meeting people where they are and being a face of support, kindness, and laughter during a vulnerable experience such as doctor’s appointments. She believes she is nothing but a guide helping people on their journey to a wholesome life thus is very passionate about patient education and empowerment. Physical health is not the only part of wellness so she also focuses on helping patients in other areas of health including mental, social, spiritual, and environmental health to name a few. She strives to make each person feel a little better after meeting with them and that is not limited to their physical concerns. She involves herself with continuous medical education and incorporating technological advancements in updating her practice based on new recommendations and research.
